The 998R back on the road soon
The 998R back on the road soon

I had hoped to be out on it tomorrow but things have taken a little longer than anticipated. its not quite yet how I envisage the finished project but its close enough for me to get out and enjoy riding it, while saving the pennies for the last few bits.

Here is a reminder of how it was as a racebike

So the website obviously didn't like the title "The 998R back on the road soon" as I tried posting the thread under that title in here twice and in idle chat once

skiddles, you´re trying to cheat us with a 2007 picture?

Some nice parts on there. Did you touch the engine?

Bought off Dallas in 2007 after he didn't get on with it as a race bike
I decided to put it back on the road, the forks and yokes have gone to my 955 as have the corse footpegs and race radiator, the 6-pot APs and discs are going on to my 998 Hybrid.

The engine has been apart and had new bearings, blue printed and balanced along with a Corse gerbox fitted.

The 63.mm system has gone as I thought it over kill for a road bike and its been replaced with a 54mm system

The FIM ECU remains as does the MT940 dash, techtronics quick shifter, AP Brake Master cylinder but not the clutch one which has been replaced with a Brembo Billet clutch M/cyl. Mag arm, linkage and matching Ohlins shock remain as do the mag wheels.

When I get the correct caliper mouning plates for the Ohlins R&T forks the narrow track front wheel and Brembo race discs will be fitted along with the Billet Radial AP calipers but currently I have had to fit standard front wheel and discs with 4-pad calipers as I hope to be taking it to the Cadwell trackday in a weeks time

Should have some now pics soon Chris, hope to tae it to the trackday and then have it on the DSC Stand i the Ducati village at the Donington WSBk round at the end of the month.

At the moment I can't stand back far enough to get a clear pic so they will have to wait until I wheel it outside.

Frame and wheels are still orange, road bodywork is from a 748S, the non laquered grey which goes well with the orange. It still has the underseat catch tank, so I made a one off bracket for fitting the number plate holder.

As well as the Radial caliper fitting plates I still need the idiot lights to go with the Marelli dash and also need to mount the speed sensor and get a 8 tab triggering ring so it can display the speed.
