suspension setup!
any pointers please........916sps showa front/o'lins rear... bike set up as standard, me big bloke not lardy but 16stone plus...problem: gear change bolt very occasionaly on big bumps has touched swing arm [twice in 3000 miles] so suspect its a bit soft? Q: can i for example rachet up the compression a few clicks or one at a time? pre, load is the grey area as no ducati standard settings apart from spring length of 151 mm will go to spension expert and pay no probs, if i need to, if i can find one in hants. still looking but would like to have a try myself first just need some pointers thanks....any advise would be much appreciated PEEPS ...

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but its the same subject matter - but I am looking for some settings for a lighter than avearge rider (I'm 10 stone).

Stock suspension settings are just too damn hard for a light chap

If anyone can give any pointers I would be grateful

Cheers

Guy

Hello mate.

This set up was put in place by Perry Leask at HM Racing, go see www.hmracing.co.uk

FRONT SETTINGS

Static Sag 26mm
Ride Sag 41mm
Compression 6 Clicks Out
Rebound 7 Clicks Out

REAR SETTINGS

Static Sag 15mm
Ride Sag 37mm
Compression 1.5 Turns Out
Rebound 1 Turn Out

Hope this helps, my bikes a 996 with Showa suspension front and rear, also check whether you have a 180 or 190 rear tyre. almost everyone fits a 180 as it helps it steer quicker.

Let me know how you get on lads.

Just over 15st for those that really want to know.

Oi HENNERS!
Whenever the old man gets on to this thread perhaps we could arrange another Francis Williamson day?

Seems most of the bods asking, me included along with at least 1 more local to me, are seeking advice on "how to" and "why" as much as "what" the settings should be.

Does the SpreadEagle have a function room where we might arrange a "talk" and p'raps a demo of what changes actually DO to affect your handling and how to do them for the uninitiated?

I'd be interested in trying my steering at the steeper head angle but dont really know how MUCH it will affect the handling?

What d'ya reckon Henry? Would Francis be up for it if we could generate enough interest?
