Typically on the last day I rode my 996 before the rains started I managed to hit a lump of metal scaffold bar that was lying in the middle of the road. You know you see it half a second before you hit the thing. Well luckily I manage to stay on the bike but ended up with the ding in the rim. I sent it off to Hagon to see if they could fix it but just got the bad news that the spoke cracked as they were pushing out the ding.



So now I have the dilemma of finding a replacement with the following options:



1. Hunt on fleebay to see what comes up. But run the risk of buying another door stop for serious money.

2. I’ve checked on the new price from Ducati and they are £700 new

3. I’m told that 848 wheels fit and been offered a new set £1000, but would prefer for it to remain standard.

Can anyone think of any other options as spending £700 for a wheel is ridiculous?

Rather than pay £700 for a wheel I think I would prefer to purchase a 748s and use the front wheel from that and either break it or fit a brembo wheel and resell it as you can hardly see it behind the discs.

Could try Hagon for a repair

Could this be worth a punt, use the ask seller a question or phone them to find out more about its condition and returns policy

Keep looking on Fleabay. There are a good few 3 spoke fronts on there but 5 spokes are a bit rarer.

Have a search on here in the classifieds and the classifieds elsewhere. You should get a pair of five spokes for less than £700 then you'll have a spare rear that you could keep or flog off.

A wanted add might help as well, someone might well have something up in the loft they have just tripped over gettin the Christmas deccys out

If you are worried about the condition just collect in person, that way you can avoid getting legged up with another less than perfect circle!

Only a Spanking new Gold Mag rear wheel in my loft

Imola Dukes 5-spoke wheels that he advetised the other day off his 900SSie that Jasper bought would have provided the ideal front wheel and would have worked out cheap by the time the tyres and rear wheel were sold on

Does anyone know if the 900 Monster 2003 Front Wheel in the fleebay link is the same as fitted to a 2000 996 SPS?

The part no. for the 996 is 501.2.020.1AA but dont know how to check if it the same for a Monster.

The later Monsters like my S2R use the same wheel, part numbers can change as the wheels come in different colours. Although my S2R has the speedo pickup off the back wheel the front wheel still has the capability of taking aspeedo drive
