I've not fitted one myself, and assuming this is the ITG type, I'd read that the way to fit the airfilter over the front bellmouth is to put your hand through the filter opening for the rear bellmouth, ie up from the bottom.

This should then help you get the front bellmouth on and then the rear is easier to fit.

Does this help?

That sort of sound like it may work mate but I was so fed up at not being able to fit it I have drank half bottle of red with me dinner so will give it a go tomorow.

Road Runner, when you come to spray the retention oil on to the filter.
Don't spray it directly on to the filter but into the air above it, letting the oil droplets settle onto the filter.
