Plastic welding?
Hi,

I need to do a repair on the fairing on my 2001 996.
Does the fairing lend itself to welding or is it a problem.
I've been told there are two plastics that are mainly used in motorbike fairing and one lends itself to welding while the other basically is a non starter.

Thanks for any help,

James

Your correct about there being two types of plastic, one good, one not so good, I would take it to a specialist paint/repair place as if you overheat the plastic, it can become brittle etc.

Just google fairing reoairs, there are a lot of places.

I have someone who will do the repair on the side, but he doesnt know the make up of the plastic as they look very similar.
All I need to know is if anyone has had a 996 fairing plastic welded and was it successful.

Regards

James
