sqeek when starting
I have a 94 750ss and it will not start, I have checked the battery, fuses, connections, spark yet it will not start.

It seems as though no fuel is getting to the cyclinders and also there seems to be a squeel coming from the front of the engine???

any suggestions/tips

Tim

Is the fuel tap turned on??
Have you lifted the tank and trapped the lines??
Is the fuel pump running??
Is the filter in the tank restricted??
Is any fuel getting to the carbs??

Quick and dirty test, use a spray bottle to mist some fuel into the carb intakes and try to start, if it momentarily runs you know its fuel related.

fuel tap was on full, not had a chance to see if the fuel filter is blocked though (tomorrow) i did however do the dirty test and for a split second we had combustion.

the squeek/squeel when i turn in over is bothering me though

what do you think that will be?

bit of history a new bearing was put in the engine (sealed) the guy in the shop said it would work fine. could this be the noise? tight seal perhaps?

The 'normal' reason for a squeak is the fuel pump has stuck after it has been standing for a while.
I've had it a couple of times, but it has sorted itself out.

I'm trying to remember what I did when it was bad - and I think I just kept switching the ignition on and off to make it kick itself free - if your battery it 'fractionally past its best' then you'll be better off attaching jump leads from a car battery (with ign off) so you give it a very healthy voltage.

i had actually used a car battery to get it going albeit unsuccesful, but the squeel is coming from the lower end of the bike, not long had the new bearing but surely this wont stop it starting
