Parking Ticket
Got a bloomin parking ticket but seems so unfair and not sure what to do.
Basically, my road is a residents only parking road and at the end of each parking zone are double yellows that go around the corner. When I got home Friday evening a large van (that I noted didn't have a residents permit) was parked outside my house. So I parked up on the double yellows at my end of the road as I don't like parking in front of somebody elses house as it just shifts the problem on to them. I went out in the evening and had a few beers at my mates and when I got home I could have moved my car back outside my house but obviously didn't as I'd had a few beers. I get up Saturday morning and my car had been ticketed at 9.00am.
Right, that's all the waffle about the situation, but I'm not sure wether to pay it or contest it and see if I can get let off. The double yellows aren't really there for any reason. You're not blocking any access or on a major road that disrupts traffic so I think the yellow's are pretty pointless. The guy could have looked in my window and seen that I have a residents permit and maybe cut me a bit of slack (although that wouldn't do his figures any good for the end of the month - me cynical? never).
I can either pay the £30 or ask for a court hearing. But do they actually make you go to a local court (something that makes you not bother contesting it and just pay the fine instead - me cynical? never...again)? Or is it dealt with through the post?
Or could I send a cheque along with a letter explaining the situation and hope the guy in charge see my side of things and sorts it out from there?
Mmmm, don't know what to do.
