i think i`m losing it !
i dunno if i`m finally losing my marbles but i had a thought today.....is the 748/916etc shape looking a bit dated and boring ? when i look at some of the new bikes that have come out this year i kinda think so.......oh well, its the loony bin for me then, this time next month i`ll be sitting on a wall wearing a multi coloured tank top, chewing straw and shouting at passers by...............

Ah - a case of familiarity breeding contempt I feel!!!

The 916 is and always will be the archetypal sports bike, only the MV comes close.

All of the new Jap bikes are looking better I think its fair to say, but its widely viewed as being because they are taking their design lines from the Italians.

Go and have a lie down for a while, then take another look, you'll fall in love again.

Tim

You're right - the 916 design is looking dated now, particularly the early bikes. Bronze frame, three spoke wheels, analogue clocks etc. The last of the breed with grey frames, multispoke wheels and sleek fairings still look good though.

But not as good as my 749S

It's a pity Ducati didn't do a a similar thing to the 916 shape as Porsche have done with the Carrera - the first ones look very dated now and yet the latest ones look right up to date, but the basic styling is still there.

Uncle Porry , Your'e losing it ,Go and lie down. Went to the local pub last night and I was the only one with a Duke ( 80 plus bikes parked up)as I pulled in every one looked ,as I pulled out, ditto, The 916/998 is still the epitemy of what a sports bike should look like and is still tops for most red blooded folk. 4D
