Funny - or maybe not so funny event here.

On my way home from a nightshift this morning, I spotted a White transit van shooting onto a notoriously bad, tight roundabout for spillages (I've seen a car do a lovely '180' spin in front of me in the wet there - A66 roundabout at the infamous Cellnet stadium for anyone unfortunate enough to have to be in the area).

Anyway - the van dumped diesel for roughly two-thirds of his right hand turn around the roundabout.

Since I was driving home, I managed to scribbled down the reg. number and works phone number of the company.

I looked up a couple of the diesel spill websites and while there I noticed all sorts of information but NOT how to go about reporting the bluudy incident !!!

I thought about phoning the boys in blue but decided that since (in my humble opinion) the only 'crimes' they appear to tackle are speeding related, that I might as well phone the company direct and see what line they take first.

It wasnt a good start as I was passed from reception to a dept who had nothing to do with vehicles BUT, he did have all the contacts and gave me the mobile number of the right guy to phone...so try again.

The workshop manager knew exactly who was responsible and why it had happened - a temporary fuel cap was being used as the locking one had been stolen (sadly, believeable for the area)...he promised to have the vehicle withdrawn until a new cap was fitted and the driver 'educated'.

Does not clear up the actual spillage sadly - but a partial result I hope.

Is it worthwhile contacting a local authority I wonder and does anyone actually know of a legal channel for reporting?
