Another trip to Westgate road (900ss + Monster)

Nice day out yesterday going up and down the old hill.

Took my poor Bro out who was knocked of his clean TRX850 that he had just got sorted nicely and is back to square one again since it looks very likely it will be wrote off.

I'll only briefly mention lusting over RSV's / Falco's / Bimota V-Due /999/749r/Benelli/MV1000 and stick to the real world.

I've been trying to talk my bro into an ST2/4 which he quite likes the look of but, since he is somewhat vertically challenged - is on tip toes which, having said that he is used to now.

There were a few ST2 and one ST4 in M&S that we looked at but blow me - he seems most impressed by a Monster 620

Done in purple(ish) Corse colours with a metal flake finish it did look kind of nice but apart from the paintwork looks identical to the std model (anyone know different?).

M&S also had a very nice 'R' reg 900ss - good detailing and it was fitted with a SL single seat. Low level Termi's and apparently Maxton preped forks but the rear shox looked like standard (always make me laugh that) - £3250 seems a bit steep - especially as its a YELLOW one

Hi Frank

I was at Westgate Road a couple of weeks ago looking for something a bit out of the ordinary. Where was it that you saw the Bimota V-Due? M&S? I wouldn't mind a look at that. How much was it?

Hi there - the V-Due is actually in Kawasaki Newcastle down near the telewest arena, it is a masterpiece - at the back of the shop in a pedestal where it should be I think the price was.....

£10,995 (gulp) - I remember reading the story about loads of them being imported last year (was it by the guy who runs rsv.net ???).

Frank
It must be one of the last batch of bikes which were converted to run on carbs. There were only about 150 of them left at the factory, and all covered in dust (see pic) - but a couple of dozen were brought into Britain by a chap called Paul Bridgend I think. They're being cleaned up and sold as 'new' - which I suppose they are. The last I heard, the price was to be around £10,500. They've twice the power of an Aprilia RS250, with approx the same weight to push - so I bet they dunnarf shift! (But with their 'problem' history, I'm not sure if buying one would just be chucking money away). All the same, I'll take a look on Saturday if I get the chance.

Cheers
Steve
