P34 Caliper Brake Lines

Just bought a pair of individual brake lines to fit to the P34 (4 pad) calipers that I bought from Adam (cheers mate, got your letter).

Since I am fitting these calipers to a 916SPS, I had to order the hoses to fit the SPS master cylinder with a double length banjo bolt and with end fittings suitable for the P34 calipers.

When ordering them, I said that they should be made to fit a 996R or 748R as these have those calipers as standard.

Just managed to venture into my garage to trial fit them and noticed the following:

- the caliper end banjo fittings are angled at 60deg so when the hose is attached to the caliper it sticks out at 60 degrees (upwards/outboard from bike centreline)..this doesn't seem right!
For the hose to go around the back of the fork leg, I would expect the banjo fitting to be straight or maybe angled at 10degrees or so to clear the mudguard - have any "R" owners got advice on this?

- with the fittings at 60 degrees, I then thought maybe these are hoses that are designed to go around the front of the fork legs (like on a race bike) - have any "R" owners got these type of hoses and if so, are the banjo fittings at 60degrees?

Comments/advice would be much appreciated from the elitist and privileged few who own "R" type bikes fitted with 4 pad calipers...

Cheers,

R X

p.s. it's not snowing now.
