Last week end was my mates stag weekend, 2 nights in a village up near Scottish border with 1 pub and 30 houses, unlikely venue for a stag party!
There was 8 of us in total all on dirt bikes going for a good thrash round the Cheviot Hills.
Saturday was absolutely brass monkey weather with snow to begin with, although this changed to rain later on. We covered 125 miles, as much off road as possible, and had an absolutely ace time despite the weather.
Wimps that we are we actually admitted defeat on one of the trails, which at a 10 mile slog is the hardest one in Britain and normally takes 3 hours in good conditions. on Saturday when we got to the first hard bit it took an hour to cover 400 metres!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then we had another relatively easy bit then 30 minutes to do about 150 metres before we got to another fire road in the forest and gave up.
Basically a bit like the Battle of the Somme type mud in the middle of a forest with trees brought down by previous storms blocking the path thru bottomless bogs. Mad nightmare but amazingly hard fun. Its the first time in 15 years this trail has beaten us. We must all be geting old.
Anyway we carried on with a lot of other more manageable trails, got back to the pub by 7.30pm after 10 hours riding and got stuck into loads of food and drink until 2pm.
Sunday was a mere 60 mile trans Pennine ride after a late start, a few aching heads but the weather was miles better than Saturday.
Highlight of the weekend was Sproey jumping his bike across a big drainage ditch, hero, and Azzy sinking his bike upto the handlebars in the drainage ditch: fullm of what looked like pig slurry lol:

Off roading, i love it, especially when mixed with a weekend away.
Now who else needs to get married.
