Disqualification - An explanation

For those of you that don't know, or haven't spotted the results.

We ran a diablo corsa front tyre at Snett, after Rich spotted other riders using them at previous rounds.

We were due for a new set of tyres, so Rich ordered the corsa front.

Rich was unaware of the vote (or whatever it was) about no corsas, and it was too late to change (and we haven't got an endless pit of money to "just go buy another one") so we had to run it.

Rules are rules, and it was a risk, but that was all we had.

Sorry if it was outside the 'spirit of the series' but that wasn't the intention.

There was also a rumour about us running a ported engine... well I can asure you that, that is total rubbish, either that or Rich is useless at porting!!

The engine makes 52 bhp without air filters (50 with) and it's a 620!!

We'd happily let anyone take our bike apart, in fact we offered it to be stripped at Snett - our offer was declined though.

I know I have a big gob, but that's not good enough reason to start silly rumours about us cheating. Just accept that when we have a competitive engine, we WILL be on the podium with Geoff & Clint.

I'm not upset by being disqualified, I'm nowhere in the championship anyway.

See you at Donington.

Why am I explaining myself?

I don't know where any of the rumours about porting have come from and I haven't heard any either.

I overheard two lads walking round looking at the bikes after the race and comparing tyres on all the Ducati's (not just DD's) but thought it was a mistake when they said "well this one's got Diablo Corsa's" but James had said the same thing (completely unsolicited) while he had been helping with Fordie's tyres next to Dom's bike, so I asked MW to have a (quiet!?) word with Dom, and it was me that also asked to make sure everyone's tyres were checked. It may well have been preferable to have spoken quietly to Dom about it but, despite my attitude on the board sometimes, I'm not confrontational and wanted someone technical to explain to him.

I didnt set out to get Dom disqualified, I haven't accused anyone of deliberately cheating, and I resent the tone of Doms initial message above implying so. I'm not the one that broke the rules and I feel disappointed that I have to respond like this. Dom, take it on the chin and come out fighting like you normally do, don't waste your time on making it personal.

The personal messages from your "friend" haven't helped anyone either Dom.

How it was spotted I have no idea (it wasn't an official check as Mike Winter did one after ours was 'outted'), and personally I'm disappointed at the alleged source.

Edited to include part of Dom's original post!

Did they, I didn't spot any at Castle Combe and I was looking ,even your bike didn't have them on there.

So you are saying you were running on a Corsa because others were using them and not because because Rich didn't know the rules.

So who are the others that were running them, checks at Snetterton don't appear to back this claim up.

Its a shame really because it detracts from what was a very good ride on your part and Rich's sterling efforts in sorting the 620 engine & injection.

tyres were checked at Cadwell.

As usual there is a bigger picture here; we have a letter that indemnifies us as a Club to run a specific tyre, step outside of that and we (or you as a rider) have (or has) a liability issue, - what if rain had come down and a rider on Corsa's took out another rider or riders? Think it through.

you should have said something dom i'm sure we could have had a whip round that would have netted £60 for a new tyre

Sneakski or controverski, this is the question?

Rules are rules mate, bend them but don’t brake them, (even when others do)

Step up and take your place Dom, stop F**ing around.

With a sorted bike top five every round.

Lap times for top three, You’re the man.

Next round is your chance to step up and take it.

Gotcourtski. good luck in the next one mate

I will be cheering you on fella your a racer

unfortunately or fortunately; depending on who you are; this is one rules that is very easy to check if its been broken. others are not so easy.

who's had their bike weighed? some could be underweight no idea what mine weighs could have been running ilegally for 3 races.

everyone coming back in with at least 3 litres in their tanks? i dont think so.

not accusing anyone but just making the point that this has to be the easiest rule to check and to be fair to dom he has taken it and is going to move on so fair play to him. there are possibly others who not necessarily intentionally may have broken rules but have "got away with it"
