Mobile fone scam

Maybe an old chestnut, but i've had 2 attempts on my phone in a week (no i didn't fall for it, I'm not as silly as I look!)...

Phone rings, caller hangs up as soon as you answer. You call back to see who it was and it's a marketing company and you've just called them on a premium rate number!

number is 08700 426655

ignore it.

Hey, I've had the same thing with the same number over the last 5 weeks. They call and immediately hang up on me answering. I saved the number in the phone as 'Mystery' so I knew when they called again.

Each week they'd call at least once often twice, yet didn't want to talk.

Eventually last week, they stayed on after I answered - turns out they wanted to sell me a new phone

Never even thought to phone them back. I always take the attitude that if it's important, they call me again.... (or at least leave a voice message).

I had another permutation of this last week...There was a message on my answerphone saying something along the lines of:

" You have an important message from kn0b-head marketing. To listen to the message press 1; to save the message press 2 ; to delete the message press 3"

Not sure how it works, but I'd be willing to bet that, if you picked up the phone, listened to this message, then pressed 1,2 or 3, you would be calling them on a premium line.
