Borgo Panigale, Bologna, 9 September 2024 – Ducati is proud to announce that World Ducati Week 2024, held from 26 to 28 July at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, has achieved certification as a sustainable event according to the international standard UNI ISO 20121 for the fourth consecutive edition, demonstrating how an event that attracts tens of thousands of enthusiasts from all over the world can represent an example of responsible and sustainable management in the two-wheel panorama. Since its first edition, World Ducati Week has been the ideal stage to celebrate in a context of authentic sharing and enthusiasm the deep bond that unites the brand to its community of Ducatisti, made up not only of motorcycle enthusiasts but also of partners, suppliers, employees of the Company and the territory. The numbers of this recently concluded edition speak for themselves: over 94,000 attendees in the three days from 86 different nations, sharing a weekend of celebration and fun that was able to combine a passion for two wheels with the Company’s commitment to social responsibility, environmental sustainability and the enhancement of the brand itself. The certification milestone, which has already been achieved in the 2016, 2018 and 2022 editions, was achieved thanks to the joint commitment of Ducati, its employees and all parties involved in the construction and execution of the event including the supply chain and the participants themselves, who together implemented an organisational model that ensured a balanced management from an economic, environmental and social point of view of each phase of the event's planning and realisation. The certificate was issued following a verification conducted in various phases by the certification body: first on the planning, to evaluate the principles of sustainability expected; then on the implementation, to verify that what was planned was actually put into action during the event. The principles that Ducati has adopted as the foundations for defining the objectives and activities of the WDW include a commitment to inclusivity, the promotion of awareness on sustainability issues, responsible management of environmental impact, communication transparency with partners and authorities involved, respect for human rights and the active participation of all stakeholders. Inclusivity and Awareness The World Ducati Week is designed to be inclusive and welcoming: it also offers access to owners of non-Ducati motorcycles and provides free entry for participants from non-EU countries and minors, as well as dedicated services for people with disabilities and two children's areas. It promotes cultural exchange between participants from different countries through initiatives such as the International Village, a meeting point for Ducatisti, importers and Ducati Official Clubs from all over the world. With a view to social responsibility, part of the proceeds from the wardrobe storage service at Fridays’ evening event will be donated to the ChiAma chiAma Anti-Violence Centre of the MondoDonna Onlus Association to support the fight against gender-based violence. Ducati pledged to promote its environmental and sustainability objectives in relation to the WDW, ensuring that all stakeholders, including employees and external collaborators, were adequately informed and trained on these issues. The staff involved in fact received specific training to actively contribute to achieving the sustainability objectives. Furthermore, during the three days, the greater awareness of participants was promoted through Ducati's digital channels and dedicated signage on site. Management and Transparency In the planning and development phases of World Ducati Week, Ducati adopted sustainable practices to minimise environmental impact, also dedicating itself to the promotion and enhancement of the territory that hosted the event. Among the various solutions employed, the use of sustainable mobility was promoted for staff, such as electric scooters and bicycles, and for participants the distribution of water bottles in the welcome kit to reduce the amount of plastic generated. Eco-friendly shuttles have been made available for travel between the Circuit and the Riviera municipalities, along with test rides and entertainment activities to explore and enhance the surrounding area. At the catering points, compostable tableware and farm-to-table products were used, while excess food was donated to charities, thus also contributing to the reduction of waste generated. During all phases of World Ducati Week, Ducati adopted a transparent and clear approach in communicating with its stakeholders. Collaboration with control bodies, authorities and institutions was based on transparency and mutual trust, thus ensuring an effective and constructive flow of communication. As confirmation of this principle, the reporting of the sustainability results achieved during the event will be published in the World Ducati Week Sustainability Report and made available to interested parties. Integrity and Participation Ducati considers respect for internationally recognised human rights as an essential basis for all its commercial relations. A commitment that is reflected above all in the realisation of a large-scale event such as WDW, during which Ducati is committed to guaranteeing respect for fundamental rights and the safety of all participants and workers involved, though, for example, security services and medical assistance. This, too, contributes to the goal of exceeding the expectations of participants and all stakeholders by actively engaging them to create global connections, break down geographic boundaries and provide an unforgettable experience. World Ducati Week aligns perfectly with Ducati's commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible management of resources, aspects that the Company considers fundamental to its success. This philosophy reflects the values of the VW Group, guiding every aspect of the activities and events organised by the Borgo Panigale company.
