2nd attempt

Well after really regretting selling by class B ss I was going to have a go at racing this year I have gone and bought Andy turners, zimbo's,Chris wood's old ss last Friday. So I should get out for a few races this season once I've sorted it out as its in a bit of a mess at the minuite. I've not had it running yet as the battery is knackerd and won't charge so I just need a new battery, chain, belts, oil & filter, brake & clutch fluid change and a general clean up of everything. Then sort the bodywork out as that is really tatty I should b good to go. I also noticed on this bike aswell as my last one there is a letter K scribed onto the engines. I know some engine tuners do this but does anyone know what this letter K could mean?

The k is on all pre 1999 583s be it a Monster or an SS and as such I wrote it into the rules a few years ago that it needs to be present, helps put a stop to cheats using a 620 engine with carbs on it.

As you alude to that bike has been around in DD for quite a time, very little use in the last few years but was always a good runner.
If my memory serves it could well be an early one with the rare primary drive

Good to hear your still wanting to have a go

+1 to that, Zimbo always went well on it, I think Andy only did Anglesey last year.

So that's what the k means.

Yeah I think it was last used at Angelsey 2011.

Yep that was the last time. Andy and Caz have moved house since then and had a baby
