on the subject of \'v\' pieces

Hi all

learnt something today... that there is more than one variation of v pieces?? and there was me thinking that they where pretty much standard (with execption to the later models that do need to expose the rocker cover)

I have just brought a DP v piece that is a poor fit for for my 748 - the apeture for the oil cooler is much bigger as is the rocker cover gap. I can make it fit but its very poor and when put next to my standard piece is totaly different albeit a fraction of the weight!

Anyone able to help?

Thanks in advance

The 998 (testastreta model) v-piece is very different from the 748/9xx v-piece. I wasn't aware that there were variations in the 748/916 model v-pieces. Maybe the RS engine had a different v-piece.

if your looking to shift the 998 one u2u me a price for it, and I might take it off your hands
Assuming it will fit the 998 of course. If you still have the box tell me the part number and I'll check it.

Cheers,
John.

hmmm ... I hadn't realised there was more than one type, and as I'm after one right now I appreciate the heads-up!

I have a 2002 748R with a casoli WSB belly. Can anyone offer advice on what might or might not fit.

Otherwise I fear that the temptation of ebay might force another useless purchase

HI NATE

I have a 2001 748 R and can confirm that its the one on the right that fits my bike and not the one on the left (see pic earlier in thread). I have yet to get a DP part number. The part number of the incorrect model is 18088 if that helps.

I am looking for DP parts only, as such I have a carbon peice that you are welcome to at the moment, fits fine (currently on bike) , let me know. This one has a gauze over the gap which is cool. (see attached).

I guess my only other advice is not to buy one that has the wide shallow gap for the oil cooler. the 748 needs the deeper fit.

On a different note, how do you find the WSB casoli fairing? look nice on the website and if i could find DP parts a defo one for the shopping list.

All the best

Mark

Hey Mark!

I only have the WSB belly pan, but I have to say it looks awesome.

Word to the wise though. The sidepanels need to be cut at the bottom for it to fit and it needs to be done properly to avoid an expensive lash-up!

I'd certainly be interested in your current V. Can you email me a pic of it on the bike by any chance?

Cheers
N
