I know there is a debate about which tyre size is best (turn in, lean angle ect) but can I clarify that I can fit EITHER a 180/55 or a 190/50 to my 996s without any fitment worries.

not usually mate, tyres are designed to work as a pair
you could mix tyres from the same brand ie diablo front and a corsa rear but its usually a big nono to fit say a pirelli front and a bridgestone rear, one companys idea of a 180/55 profile is different to anothers as is the tread pattern
on my 916 i found a 180/55 was better than a 190/50 for fast road/track riding
