Battery charging

When your race bikes not in use do any of u leave your battery on a charger all the time or just give it a charge before use?
I've got a brand new battery I've not even used it yet but I've just left it plugged into my optimate all the time to keep its charge but have no idea if that's the best thing for it?

Personally have never been a fan of trickle chargers. I think they do more harm than good. Never had a problem leaving the bike between races especially if it had a new battery fitted. If your bothered then just disconnect the earth terminal.

I'm with Neil, I prefer to only charge when they need it rather than keep them on a trickle charger.
if you have a volt meter you can keep an eye on it, if it drops below 12 volt then just give it a short charge, a good battery fully charged should be 13.2 volts.
