At Anglesey we presented the Dave Harris trophy to another deserving recipient.
Many of the existing racers will not have known Dave, but take it from those of us that did he was a great bloke and one of the first Club members to sign up for the Desmo Due series when it got off the ground back in 2005.
Riding #11 he only ever competed in the first round at Cadwell Park on the Woodlands circuit before tragically loosing his life in a freak accident at Brands Hatch while getting in some practice on his DD bike.
So this year we decided the trophy should go to a very deserving Matt Lawson, he to has suffered both the highs and lows of Desmo due racing, challenging for the Class B title a few Years ago and now in real contention for the 2014 Class A title, yet two years ago at Anglesey he had an accident that landed him in Bangor hospital with a broken back. Even while recovering he had lent his bike out to several different riders to take part in DD. And even all this comes after a horrible time when his wife Karen was getting treated for Cancer.
Through it all he has been a constant part of the DD family from producing his Awesome Racing Mugs to regular donations to the end of meeting raffles.
Matt Lawson the 2014 recipient of the Dave Harris Trophy -
