I was at Coventry Ducati yesterday discussing options for using my sportclassic 1000S for Thunderbike Racing. One of the things they didn't think was possible was using slick tyres with inner tubes on the 1000S wire wheels.
Does anyone know if it's possible to fit slicks to the wire wheels using inner tubes?

Tubeless tyres are used in supermoto and aprillia 450 racing wich used spoked tyres. SO ispokes and slicks can work, but not with an innertube. The tube and tyre would overheat with catostophic consequences me thinks
With the low tyre pressures that Slicks use you would probably be in danger of ripping the valve out of the innertube as the tyre deflects as its worked to keep the heat in it. Probably why you see a few Sports classics running 749/999 wheels which also allows the use of 4-pot and 4-pad calipers
What Chaz meant to say is if the Supplementary regs allow it then yes however the ACU regs states "unless stated otherwise in the supplementary regulations the use of slicks are not permitted at meetings of below national standard" so it depends what the Thunbike series Sup Regs state.
Nothing to do with the ACU isn't quite correct chief.
