Oil Change
 
Daft question time.
I have not done an oil change, on the deep sump engine before. Is it straight forward as any other oil & filter change?
Also what are the torque settings for the four screws that hold the sump in place?

Yep,should be a straight forward job.Sorry I dont know the torque settings of the four screws.Dont forget there is a mesh filter behind the cover.:sniff:

I've taken this from my workshop manual;

CHANGING THE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER CARTRIDGE

NOTE - Change the oil when the engine is hot.In these conditions the oil is more fluid and will drain more rapidly and completely

Remove the fairing
Remove the drain plug - keep the seal - on the crank sump and allow the oil to drain off.

WARNING - Dispose of oil and/or filter cartridges in compliance with enviromental protection regulations

Remove any metallic deposits from the end of the drain plug.
Refit the drain plug complete with seal to the sump.
Tighten to the specified torque (42 Nm +-10%).
With a common filter wrench,remove the filter cartridge from the oil sump.

CAUTION - Dispose of used cartridge,do not reuse

Grease the filter seal with engine oil and then fit the new cartridge.
Screw the cartridge into position and then tighten to the specified torque (11Nm +-10%)

NOTE - Fill the cartridge with engine oil before installation.That way,you will not need to top up to correct level when finished

Screw it and tighten it to the specified torque
Clean the oil mesh filter every second oil change
Undo the plug and keep seal
Loosen mesh filter and remove it.
Clean with compressed air and petrol.Do not damage the filter mesh.
Fit the filter plug,the seal on the plug and tighten to the specified torque (11Nm +-10%)
Remove the filler plug and fill with the specified oil to MAX.mark indicated on the glass

Refit the filler plug.Run the engine at idling speed for several minutes.
Check for oil leeks.Check that the oil pressure light on the instrument panel switches off after several seconds when the engine is started.
If this is not the case, switch off and trace the fault.
Switch off the engine and allow several minutes for the oil level to settle.
Check the oil level and top up to the MAX mark,if necessary.
Refit all the compoments previously removed.
