Registering a none Uk with the DVLA

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone out there can help with some advice on registering my Hypermotard with the DVLA.

The long and short is that I bought a German-registered HM that was stolen while in the UK. My NOVA application has been approved, and I have the certificate of conformity from Ducati. I've also had the bike MOT'd.

The issue I have is with the DVLA, they've refused my application for a V5 as I didn't provide evidence of the date of manufacture despite forwarding them the email trail from Ducati clearly stating the DOM, they are insisting that I obtain some form of official certificate displaying the DOM.

Is there anyone out there in the wider community who can offer some guidance?

Many thanks in advance.

You should be able to get a Certificate of Conformity (COC) direct from Ducati as this is an EU model, and these should be made available (free of charge) when required.
This will cover lots of details, mostly the same as those on the V5, but will also include the date of manufacture.
The COC is a DVLA recognised document, as they don't like emails and stuff like that when trying to prove details.

Email info@ducati.com as this goes through to Italy directly (avoid Ducati UK as they won't be any help!) requesting the COC with your VIN number.
It might be useful to include a copy (photos) of any documentation you already have which shows the VIN on it to prove ownership.

Let us know how you get on!

Hi,

Many thanks for the response. I do have the COC, which has been supplied to the DVLA, and I can only assume they have not actually read the manufacture date on the document.....

I'll draw a big ring around it and resubmit.

Let you know how it goes......

Honestly, in my dealings with the DVLA in trying to do something similar, this does not surprise me at all!

Good luck!
