Anywhere between about 13.8 and 14.4v is generally ok. The easiest test is to turn your lights on at idle and rev the motor. they should get brighter.

If you can get your hands on a clamp-on ammeter...

You will struggle to get a decent 748 for 3k. Go 1500 higher and you might get an S which is nice.

I'm still happy to use D207s on the road. Perfectly fine for anything from touring to knee-down. They work well on a big heavy Triumph.
