its got more to do with customer relations than anything else, the 999 has had...

fuel filter
renew timing belts
a good grease at all the linkages
that should do it

take the plug cap off the front cylinder and clean the socket with a little WD40and look inside the receptical for the plug for green oxidization on the pins .
check that the oil cooler fairing...
