8mm seems to ring a bell, I changed mine for A4 S/S button Hd Cap screws.

Buy them locally for a few pence, certanly not 16 squid.

Well! I finally managed to get a good second hand underseat heat shield in C/F for my 998s as well as a nice new shiny number plate hangar, all Ducati C/F.

Now all the C/f thats on my bike is Ducati...

Just use A4 S/S with some copper slip and you will have no problems, most suppliers of S/S will offer either A2 or A4, S/S is not expensive but never use S/S for engine bolts as it has a courser...
