My wife got a NIP notice for speeding last week, and I thought at first she was just unlucky as it was in temprorary roadworks on the A77. When I looked at it,the 'offence' was recorded on 27th Oct,the letter was received on the 7th Dec-a clear violation of the regulations over the amount of time allowed to issue these tickets. However in the letter they state, that this is a reminder letter as there was no reply to the first one which they state was dated 1st Nov. This came as news to us as no letter has ever arrived here, the car has always been registered here and my wifes driving licence address was updated a year and a half ago so we dont think theres any confusion over address changes. Are they pulling a fast one ? and covering their backsides by saying they have previously posted a letter,or is there anything else going on here?,this cant be common can it?
Brother in law is a soliciter and he's going to investigate it this week, the law is slightly different here concerning access to the 'evidence',so we'll need to wait and see what transpires. Has anyone else had this happen?
