deffo go with Nelly's advice about fitting to the original carbs.

be careful with the bowl seals and diaphragms in case they stick to the carb body.

there might be a fuel filter in the inlet pipework that could be worth a clean.

there probably will be some nice gunge / water in the float bowls !!!

PDQ sell the proper cleaner K+N air filters

erm...finally - try and take some digi pics before and during work.......I found it quite helpful especially when routing the PIGGIN throttle cables once more
