Originally posted by philthy A few years ago I was woken up by shouting outside our house at 1a.m. I looked out of the bedroom window and saw my neighbour was being pinned to the garden wall by two blokes. Yours truly flew out of the front door and out into the road and promptly ''tapped'' one of them on the side of the head with a large table leg which happened to fall into my hand as I jumped out of bed. This persuaded him to leave my neighbour alone and made him realise the error of his ways and quieten down. My neighbour had now only one to deal with and putting his hand over his garden wall ''found'' a piece of 2'' x 2'' timber which he then used to persuade the other assailant to lie on the floor and curl up in a ball.( Basically he walloped hell out of him) At which point three police cars arrived. The two good citizens then complained to the police that we had attacked them for no good reason. It turned out that my neighbour had come home from the pub and found them outside his house talking out loud as to which house they were going to break into. A dicussion then took place between them and my neighbour - which was the point where I joined in. After much shouting (by them) and silence ( from us ) we were taken to one side by a police officer who explained that one of the men was a prolific house breaker and had been persuaded by the police to drop the complaint against us if they were allowed to go on their merry way. We agreed and the gentlemen were sent off by the police who then thanked us for stopping them from commiting a burglary that night, but explained to us that we could have been locked up for assult with a weapon. In hindsight if these two had not had criminal records we would have been on shaky ground and may have ended up with criminal records ourselves. Would I do it again?...... You bet I would |
Now that's what I call a good read
Well done Phil
