The mirror screws should be a brass shear screw. If you have a conventional bolt in there, replace it with the OE one.
Reason being, if the mirror takes a knok, the screw shears and the mirror pops off. If there's a conventional bolt in there, it won't snap so either the mirror support will or even worse the headlight bucket....................

Another thing about those brass screws is that they wear easily, so buy a good quality allen key to remove them. In the past, despite using an allen of the correct nominal size, I've managed to round the hexagon. If you do that, removing them becomes a real problem.

Having said all that, they are worth persisting with, for the reasons nelly says above. If you catch a mirror on the gate-post, you'll be glad you did!
