The freebie modems they give away with Broadband work just like the old telephone modems, and require a "connection" setup to connect to the outside world.
When you switch to a router, there is no "connection" as the outside world appears to be part of your network.
OE didn't know that, hence it was asking for a connection each time, so you just had to tell it not to. |
