As the owner of a nice 998s mono, and very happy with it, i would have to agree that the 996R would be the way to go, rare hand built etc. In terms of performance, they both have the same engines so one would assuime the performance is the same. The R has all the nice carbon bits but as we all know these can be fitted to the S.
