The early 748s and 916s have shorter cans than later bikes such as the 996 as later bikes probably had to change due to new noise emmission regulations. Ducati even had to move the reflector on the underside of the rear light to allow for the longer silencers |
And when the 996 first came out in 1998 they had much larger diameter silencers than the previous models-which later went back to the same as original-go figure.
