I have an 851 (888) Superbike racing 1991 for sale. This bike was the spare bike of Edwin Weibel in the 1991 World Superbike Championship and raced by him at Misano that year. Thereafter it was raced by Edgar Schnyder in the Swiss championship. In December 1993 it was sold by Schnyder to a Swiss doctor who used it for track days (the sales document comes with the bike). When the doctor wanted to ride he gave Schnyder a call and the bike was delivered to a suitable racetrack fully serviced and ready to ride (THE way to do track days in my opinion!). The bike has been serviced by Edgar Schnyder during its life. Schnyder is most famous for building the engine that helped Andreas Meklau to the win in Zeltweg in 1993 against the factory Ducatis. The bike came to Sweden in 1996-1997 when the doctor moved here. Due to the doctors unfortunate illness the bike has not been ridden since it came to Sweden and it was still in his ownership when I bought it in 2009 when it was put up for sale by his relatives.
The bike has WP race suspension as Edwin Weibel used WP on his bikes. Edgar Schnyder has verified that the bike is indeed a factory Corsa. The original frame was replaced with a new frame after a crash at Hockenheim and no framenumber was stamped into the headstock, the bike was instead identified by the number on the metal plate. The crankcases were replaced every 500 km in racing conditions.
In my ownership the bike has been serviced (valves adjusted, new cambelts, torque checked of flywheel and other components, new stator and regulator, new battery, new sparkplugs, new clutch plates, changed oil and filter and so on) and carefully brought to life again. I have no record of the mileage but everything looked good during the service and it sounds very tight and fresh. The bike is in good condition and has all the “right” parts as far as I can tell. The bike weighs 152 kg with about half a tank of petrol which is about right for a Corsa with carbon-kevlar tank and sidefairings.
The bike will come with the sales document from 1993 and e-mail correspondence with Edgar Schnyder verifying the bikes history.
The price is 155 000 SEK
