| My 749 is also getting a bit dodgy on gear changes. Esp going into 2nd from 1st. I never use the clutch going up the gears, and it's started to slip back into neutral occasionally. Bit of a racket when it does! Now and again, also, gentle clutched changes down from 5th-4th-3rd it feels a bit unsure and sometimes gets false neutrals.
I'm sure you're right about chain tension - I heard the chain slap this evening, presumably against the swingarm. Good job that this is possible *the* easiest bike to adjust chain tension!
