Screen trim

Does anyone know of a source for 'proper' rubber screen trim?
Not that crappy Oxford/Motrax anodised stuff.

Busters Accessories. They do a variety of colours and it's only 50p a metre or something silly like that. Or try M&P or even your local bike shop?

I fitted some black oxford/motrax stuff, which is the only stuff yer general bike shop seems to carry. After not very long:

- It keeps coming unstuck and I have to keep sticking the ends back down
- There's a plastic laminate over the whole deal, and that's flaking off like sunburn does when it peels
- The black hasn't stayed black, it's gone milky grey

Screen trim doesn't have much to do, it just has to stay the colour it started out as and stay put, so it shouldn't be rocket science. If it can't even do that for more than 6 months then in my book - it's crap!

Yeah, but....

Where can you get good stuff from? A search on busters.com throws up a blank and I'm pretty sure that M&P and the other bike shops just do the oxford/motrax stuff.

Getting the distinct impression you aren't impressed then Jools

I've never used the bike stuff, you can get extruded slitted tube (best way I can describe it) in black, used to put on engineering cabinets to protect the sharp edges. Bends to the screen shape well and seems to stick on OK. Never had a problem with it so far.

Ah yes, forgot about that. I used some clear tubing from B&Q to do the same thing on some carbon. You can buy it in black as well for about 65p a metre! You'll find it in the same section as the ropes, chains and stuff on rolls that you cut yourself to length.

HTH.
