Light problem

Had my 998 back from its 2 year service about 2 weeks now & have just found that the lights wont work , every time i switch on dipped/main beam the 15 amp fuse goes pop , is there something i could look at before i go up to the dealer & complain !!!

Ps the side lights work ok !

Thanks !

Probably just a bulb gone or connection that has shorted, hence it blows the fuse each time.

If you're not going to take it back - which would be the best bet as if they didn't put it back together right then they can fix it! - simply take the headlight out and check the connections on the bulbs and the connector are fine. Refit the headlight unit and test it before putting it all back together again.

The bike will be going back to the dealer ASAP ,but that might not be for a week as i work nights & have better things to do with my days than do a 35 mile round trip to shout at them !

Thanks so far

Yep, that sounds right - a constantly blowing fuse is the sign that something is shorting out the system that shouldn't be.

Sometimes bulbs can do this but, as you found, it's more likely to be a loose connector in there somewhere.

At least it's a nice easy fix!

Thought he couldnt use one of them any more.

Well done to you two for sorting it but if it was something that the dealer caused then I would be giving em a round of f**** over the phone.

I take it they are the only Ducati dealers in NI ?
Sort of cuts your options a bit if you dont use em again though dont it.
