i also think that we have been in a mini recession for a while, hidden by cheap credit and rising house prices.

As an accountant I can say my business is growing but it would do as I have only been going for 1 1/2 years.

There is another reason for the growth though - a lot of new clients are coming my way because they want a cheaper price or better service. I can offer that because my overheads are low as I don't (yet at least) have a full blown office. That should change soon though....

On the other side of the coin though I cannot think of one client who has not said that they are doing better this year than last - although they all say that in the vain hope that their tax bill will be less!

IS THE ECONOMY GOING INTO RECESSION?

No.

It's been in one for the past two years.

When the Government borrows money to pay for more beaurocrats/traffic wardens and Failed NHS IT systems and abandonned council tax reviews, they say that the money spent is growth in the economy.

That's like claiming that your income went up because while you were out working, your spouse borrowed money to hire a housekeeper to do their job, so that they could go off and buy a broken computer on your credit card.

Employment went up, there was an investment in the "knowledge" economy.

We'll have to pay for it sooner or later... Gordon can run but he can't hide.
