My god that F1 car doesn't half shift!!

The boat only did 75mph top speed - no wonder they gave it a head start!

The bike won the first sprint as the car wasn't working properly, but the car then won the next two sprints. Once the car got upto speed it really started to shift - it was like they lit the blue touch paper and when it's next to the FirePlace and pulls away like that you know it's something special!

Yes well ... to be honest I thought the bike did quite well.

Now lets see the same thing done with Honda's equipment that is available to the punter on the street.

NSX V Blade .... In this case I'm tipping the blade.

The F1 cars are unebelievably quick, I cannot remember the exact figures but I once worked out how much quicker even the slowest car on the F1 grid was compared to Rossi on a Motogp bike around I think it was the Spanish grand prix circuit at Catalunya. I think it worked out Rossi would be lapped every 6 or 7 laps or so!

The most impressive thing to witness with F1 cars is their incredible late braking and the speed they carry through medium and fast speed corners. If you were to stand at the end of a long straight and watch both a Motogp bike and a F1 car arrive at the same speed (200mph or so) the difference in braking points is unreal. The F1 car will still be screaming away at 19,000 rpm or more long after the point where the bike is hard on the brakes. When the F1 car eventually brakes it appears to just stop dead. I think they go from 200mph down to 70mph in 1.something seconds I cannot remember the exact figures as I have lost a lot of interest in the mostly dull F1 races these days.

But at the end of the day the Fireplace is a very extensivly modified road bike, the boat was a stock thing you can buy over the counter and the car is a bespoke custom built one off costing however many millions plus all the support needed. The bike did okay i thought, the boat was very disapointing.

I thought it was a bit of a no-brainer to be honest - surely noone thought that a bike of any description could outrun an F1 car?
What was interesting, was the fact that Rutter got the power down so much easier than Button, in that over a very short distance, the bike had the edge before Button could get enough F1 power down to make the difference. Also thought it was interesting to see just how technical these cars are - none of these will ever make it to Historic racing!

dont really like giving credit to cars if i can avoid it; but considering how fast we know bike go and can feel, the speed of the F1 car when it got going was truly amazing. went past the bike like it was standing still!

Cornering speed is even more impressive - I go each year as it's on my doorstep and I get free tickets... These are not cars - they're like guided missiles running on the ground.. It's no wonder the racing is rubbish - they're just way too fast, everything about them is mindblowing.

Another slant on this perhaps. All the vehicles we supplied by Honda, or at least the engines were. Surley a more meaningful comparison would have been a Moto GP bike against the car, or an F3000 car against the Blade. Would this haven meant that the bike might have won? Possibly. Would this have been what Honda wanted? No becasue cars are much more important to Honda than bikes will ever be.

Still it was impressive to see how fast the car was.
