The other half has kindly offered to provide for me some form of biking entertainment for my 30th birthday

A few years back there was the 'Ducati Experience' run at a few circuits, but I think this has now ceased. As that was her present idea, she's now been scuppered.
I've been riding for 4 years and have a 749S. I've never been on a track (on a bike at least...) and would consider myself to be slightly slower than average in bike speed terms. I've read both "Twist of the Wrist" books several times and I use those techniques regularly on the road. I'd rather not do a regular track day on my Duke (don't trust other idiots not to T-bone me). I've thought about doing the Premier class at the Ron Haslam Race School, but is there anything else worth considering?
