Major F****D off today........and will be visiting the guy i bought bike from.
I've found the problem. Unfortunately, it's not pretty. At some point it's been repaired for a similar problem................by welding the fookin' flywheel to the crank!!!!!!!! The weld has failed and took the keyway out for the alternator. Not what you wanted to hear, I know, but there's no real solution other than to try and get another bottom end.
