Roar, cough...die :(

Afternoon peeps,

Currently rebuilding my 748s after a crash which left my baby without a front end (to speak of). Its virtually back together now, although im still too broken to ride it

Anyhows, like I say, its almost back together, the only major parts missing atm are the air tubes on both sides, if i try to start her up, i turn the key, fuel pump etc starts up as normal, hit the ignition switch, it tries to start, give it a few revs and it starts up, a few seconds later it just coughs and dies, is this likely to be due to the missing air tubes ? Im kinda hoping so, but any ideas?

Craig
