Who had fun today at MOTOGP?

What a fabulous day.

Woke early this morning and thought, feck it, let's go - I hadn't planned to, but I packed a rucksack, jumped on the old CB5 and off to Donny.

Rucksack had everything needed.....sun cream, water, radio, shorts, flip flops, hat etc, and 20 miles from Donny, it's peeing rain, WTF?!? Got soaked, but arrived in good time, bought a ticket and straight into a good spot right at the fence at the Esses on my £10 chair.

Sun finally came out to play and the sun cream was liberally applied to my Scottish blue legs. Racing was superb, I love watching the strokers, the lean angle and speed they change direction through the Esses is unbelievable. As for the GP bikes, it's the noise that gets you, (when you can hear them over the morons with the air horns). The Honda shrieks, the Ducati howls and barks, but the best by far is the Suzuki which sounds like it's going to explode up until the thump of the gear change on full chat, wonderful.

A couple of T shirts, several diet cokes and a few ice creams and that was it. I stayed right to the end, or rather just as the safety car came out for the R6 Cup. I had parked right at the exhibition centre entrance, so off with the shorts and on with all the sweaty leathers which I'd left attached to the bike along with my helmet. It took me longer to get into my leathers than it did to get out of the circuit and I was home in St Albans with a cold beer in my hand by 6.40pm. Some bikers ride painfully slowly, sitting in the traffic as if they are a bus, never mind a car - what have they bought a bike for?

Met up with a few peeps on my travels around the infield, had the chance of a paddock pass for the last couple of hours but couldn't be bothered with the long walk to get it.

So back home and now trying to rehydrate with cold beer, it's mental hot in my house. Just watched the highlights, Rossi is still the man, but Dani's ride was like a celebrity exhibition ride. Talking of which, I must find the money to do a 'once in a lifetime' lap on the back of Randy Mamola on the Desmo - he flicks it through the Esses then pins it, wheel in the air......hmmm.

What a cracking day.
