Richard, Whatever you buy new will plummet in value as soon as it hits the road, I know  You also have to take account of the 1100 (or 1098!?!) coming soon which will knock even more out of the value of a 999 and most of the 2nd hand ones will have negligible mileage and shiny fasteners as they dont get used all year round. Like Ian suggested, have a chat with your friendly dealer and see what they say, but shop around and get some comparisons to hit them with first.
