What\'s your most embarassing

Note to self:
1- When showing off your bike to workmates, it's best when pulling away not to think it's cool to say "ciao" (and yes, I'm cringing).
2- Observe beforehand if any vehicles are blocking the main entrance to your workplace, especially if aforementioned has it's reverse lights on.
3- When performing an emergency stop in front of workmates, work out how far the ground is in relation to your foot, and try not to panic when at a standstill, the bike topples over on top of you.
- Thankfully, apart from a few scuffs, the bike is fine.
I, on the other hand am a ****.

the old chesnut is riding off in front of a bunch of girls - summer evening, wearing jeans and cool Dainese jacket...only to realise that the disc lock is still on, the bike stops, pitches forward and to oneside flinging you to the ground while still holding the handlebars in a vain attempt to save it - all at about 5mph..not cool. lucky it was my cagiva elefant so no major damage - just hurt pride

Or.....in the olden days when bikes had kick starts, failing to notice said kickstart lever had gone up inside the leg of your ever so trendy flared jeans then pulling up at the lights and failing miserably to get your foot of the peg!

Or, sitting at the lights revving the nuts off the old Kwak Z1 to show the girlie's on the corner how cool you are and having the clutch cable break. The resultant wheelie across to lanes of moving traffic and on into the bushes on the far side was truly spectacular!!!

how about as you are pulling away in front of the gathered colleges, you think a little wheelie will be all right.
Only to discover that the rear Michelin is stone cold and it spins up flick's bike sideways and everything ends up on the side of the road in a big heap.
If I had the option of being taken out by a passing lorry I would of taken it.
Never mind we live to fight another day

How about showing off in front of mates at college by doing skid turns on old Triumph sidecar outfit. Went a bit further down the carpark to get more speed-didn't notice that that bit had been resurfaced and was now very grippy.
Result-outfit flips and lands upside down-I break wrist! Mind you being young and stupid I turned the outfit back over, kicked it straight and rode back up to park it-took myself to hospital(on the bike) later when the wrist started to swell.............

Got back from a ride and rode onto my driveway in front of several neighbours having a chat one Saturday morning. The driveway was on a very slight downhill slope. After blipping the throttle very importantly a few times, I puts sidestand down and dismount, only for the bike to slowly and inexorably slide forward off it's sidestand onto it's side with a loud crashing sound. Neighbours stare in pity. More embarassment follows as I have to have help to lift it back up

Michael,

Very similar to yours, except it was at Box Hill in 1977, having just fitted a cool dresda twin headlamp half fairing to my Hon....400/4.

On a Sunday, so lots of people saw it.

Away camping in Wales, about 8 of us on bikes. All of the bikes were parked up in a row in a muddy field.

We were stood around drinking beer when someone shouted, "quick grab your bike, the stands sinking into the mud and its about to fall over".

Just as it was about to fall over and knock the whole row of bikes over like domino's i lunged for the bike and grabbed the handlebars with a great sense of relief,

until the handlebar grip came off in my hand and knocked the whole row over

The only consolation was that the horrible of heaps of scrap that we all rode as teenagers weren't exactly mint and all got crashed on a regular basis so a few more scrapes and dents weren't as bad as the thought of a line of fully faired Ducati's going down.
