I was about to consider the subframe bolts as 'next viable option', however... After many many many many many many wiggles, and getting a variety of strange looks from the neighbours, i manged to finally get the little bugger to slowly slide into place. Luckily I am not blessed much 'brute force' talents, otherwise i probably would have just bent it! However, now they are finally on, they do actually appear to be fairly skew-wiff, to my perfectionist eye  Its all a bit dodgy if you ask me.However, they're on, so "yey"  I shall complain no more!Cheers for the offer of help Rattler....
