Chris I thought about it, but as I didn't hear from any of my mates that usually race it I decided to go to the Annual Boxing Day bike meet in Oxford as I haven't been for a couple of years. Hope you had a good day out.

What a waste of time, Big Up to Mallory Park for a full refund.
New era , I am astounded .

Got there at about 9.30, good crowd of spectators already there, frost on the track, marshalls stood doing nothing, would have thought they would be sweeping the frost off the track & salting the ice patches that would be in the shade around the hairpin & the bustop( before anyone jumps in, that was standard practice when I used to marshall the Plum Duff meeting 8 years ago) but no, by 10.30 a few marshalls/officials & circuit vehicals where driving around the track trying to disperse the frost ,
Tannoy chirps in at about 11.15 to say that there will be a final track inspection at 11.30 ( practice should have started at 10.am), 11.30 the tractor with the big rotating brush now appears onto the track from the pits & starts brushing the track around the hairpin( bright sunshine temp now up to 4/5%) most of the frost patches now gone & the track was nearly dry. 12.10 & the cars come out to practice, tannoy said practice time would be cut, 20 mins later? first car practice finishes, next car practise comes out, 20 odd minutes later thay go in, marshall put the big bales onto the old track so the bikes have to use Edwinas, tannoy chirps up saying that there would be no bike racing only car racing.
So most leave to go home, Got money back though, well pleased aboutb that as twent quid is a lot of money to watch 2 car races, so a big up to Mallory for the refund & what the hell has happened to new Era organisation, good lick to the desmo due racers next year.

Unlucky Chris, at least you got your money back. It must be very hard to made a decision on track safety for bikes. Would it have been Mallory officialc or New Era officials that made the decision?

Lucky me though, I was 2 inches away from competing. I'd called New Era, got a place and sorted out all my gear, the bike and the van, only to get a bit too tipsy on Christmas Day, so as I went to bed, the thought of getting up at 4.30am to get up there for scrutineering was not the best idea, particularly as I would definitely have been over the limit for driving, never mind racing. Seems I made the right choice in hindsight.

Ah well, exactly one month to go until Jerez......yee haa

Best you get yourself a bike to ride then mate-the thought of you running round and round that track making 'brmm brmm' noises is somewhat amusing..............

I could always put the TZ in my hand luggage, it's probably below the weight limit

Off to see a CBR600rr on Thursday, so fingers crossed, otherwise it's the CB5 and borrowing other peoples bikes for a few faster laps. Monty, you should see Marks CBR6, he's had it all done up after last years thrashing - dymags, quickshifer, tuned to 118bhp and all dressed up in Ten Kate colours, looks the nuts.
