Any remedies for badly crossthreaded/stripped, caliper bolt holes ? I'm still running P4'S so we are talking alloy here, soft as bugger. The bolt has made a new home through the thread Yeah I know
If you go the Helicoil route, remember the thread is a metric fine pitch, 1.25mm not the regular 1.5mm. Helicoils are/will be available but make sure you get the right one or make sure whoever does the job knows to.
If you are anywhere near me in sussex, and can't get anyone to helicoil, I will happily help out, as I get the kits from a local supplier, and have heli'd a number of things on my race bikes A helicoil is a proper job - drilling and fitting the next bolt size up isnt !
if its just gone wrong at the beginning of the thread you could try putting the bolt back through the opposite side to re hone it. worked once for me. but only if its at the beginning and there is plenty of meat left behind it
