was waiting to pull out at a junction today, when all of a sudden, doink, mondeo hit me from behind, knocked me forward a few feet, no visable sign of any damage to my bike and rode home ok, mondeo had a smashed fog light and plastic bumper.....swapped details with very apologetic driver etc.....do you think i should get my bike checked out just in case ?

well it would'nt hurt mate. best do it sooner rather than later there could be hidden damage.

By definition a recordable collision is generally where there is injury to someone other than the driver, and as such the powers that be attend.
When taking into account the costs of your insurance, repairing the damage yourself, plus the inconvienience caused, traded off against the number of unregistered vehicles, non- insured people on road, or your inability to confirm a satisfactory identification at the roadside, I think i would be looking to be injured, however minor, at the scene, in order the authorities attend and confirm all the above.
Just an opinion i heard, and not necessarily mine............

A solicitor advised me recently that you are obliged to inform your insurance company of any accident whether damage was caused or not. Failure to do so could entitle them not to honour any future unrelated claims if it is discovered further down the line.

Uncle Porry, best advice ever I had from this board was to get meself off to gp/casualty and get checked out.
following day I had pains in left arm and it appears that this is expected with a shunt when you're on the bike, specially as your holding clutch with wrist on bars. Expect pain in wrist/elbow/shoulder.
Still sorting mine from last May.
Definitely get your bike checked out, and carry a throw away camera next time.
