getting video to pc.??

got the camera, firewire card and firewire lead, cant find anyway of downloading the camera stuff to the pc, I thought XP handled this for me if I plug it in and play??

do I need specific software? If so, any suggestions of either free or trial so I can have a go and see if worth it,
thanks,
bradders

I know its not much help but i have heard of people having huge problems with add on firewire cards. The built in fire wire connection on my lap top works fine every time.
